Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Virgin Olive Oil?
Extra virgin olive oil is the purest form of olive oil. It’s the highest grade and undergoes the least refinement and processing. It’s made from pure, cold-pressed olives and contains a lower level of oleic acid. It has to go through specific strict standards to be able to attain its ‘Extra virgin oil’ status.
Whilst Virgin olive oil is still cold-pressed and unrefined, it contains higher levels of oleic acid and production standards aren’t as strict. It’s generally used as an all-purpose oil and has a slightly higher smoke point.
