The Maca plant, Lepidium meyenii, is a high-altitude crop native to the Andes and it has been part of traditional medicine for centuries. More recently, the ground taproot flour of the Maca plant is used the world over as a nutritional supplement.

The extreme altitudes at which Maca is grown, between 3,800 metres to 4,400 metres, have resulted in altitude adaptations such as high nutrient density. This makes Maca a great superfood for humans!
