Product Overview

Orzo (also known as risoni) is a tiny pasta shape that looks like a rice or barley grain. It is used throughout the Mediterranean in all sorts of recipes.

La Bio Idea Organic White Orzo Pasta is made with sustainably grown durum wheat. Crafted by Italian master pasta-makers, it is slow-dried in Sicily for maximum flavour and authenticity.

Ready in just 7 minutes, La Bio Idea Organic White Orzo Pasta is perfect for soups, salads and pilafs. It can also be used to make a quick and delicious risotto-like dish called orzotto!

La Bio Idea is dedicated to making pasta the old fashioned way. The Sicilian climate and fertile lava soils are perfect for growing the finest organic durum wheat. Plus, La Bio Idea grows heirloom non-GMO wheat varieties that are packed with flavour and nutrients.

The pasta is dried three times slower than regular pasta and at a much lower temperature. This helps to maintain a delicate texture and deliciously mellow flavour.

Ingredients

Durum wheat semolina*, water.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make ‘orzotto’ with La Bio Idea Organic White Orzo Pasta?

La Bio Idea Organic White Orzo Pasta is perfect for making ‘orzotto’ - a pasta-based take on risotto. Each grain will hold its shape and maintain some bite while becoming creamy and comforting.

To make ‘orzotto’, simply fry your chosen veggies (garlic, onion, leeks, tomatoes, mushrooms etc), add orzo and slowly stir in veggie stock until the pasta is cooked through. It will take around 15 minutes - much faster than risotto!

You can also add peas, spinach, crumbled vegan sausages and more towards the end of cooking. Top with lemon zest, vegan parmesan and a swirl of olive oil and enjoy!
