Product Overview

Geo Organics Atlantic Sea Salt is a finely ground sea salt harvested from the Atlantic shores of Portugal. It retains the minerals present at the source - magnesium, calcium and potassium - which gives it a complex flavour.

This Atlantic sea salt is organic and unprocessed. It is harvested by hand from sea pans, which helps minimise environmental disruption.

It is packed without fillers, preservatives, and anti-caking agents, so you get 100% Atlantic salt in every shaker. It also does not contain iodine and is safe for people on a low-iodine diet.

Ingredients

Atlantic Sea Salt (contains: Magnesium 1.4%, Calcium 0.3%, Potassium 0.3%).

Frequently Asked Questions

How is sea salt different from table salt?

Sea salt is unprocessed and purely a residue from evaporating seawater. The residue, which includes other minerals, is what gives sea salt more flavour. It tends to be less salty than table salt and has a light seawater odour.

Table salt, on the other hand, is pure sodium chloride. It is usually produced by evaporating salt brines created through hydraulic mining. The brine is usually treated before evaporation to derive a nearly pure salt deposit. The resulting salt is often very salty without any other distinctive flavour.

Depending on local regulations, it may be fortified with other nutrients such as iodine or iron to increase its nutritional value. Many manufacturers also add anti-caking ingredients before packing to improve flow and prevent clumping.

You can use either salt for cooking or seasoning, but for a more complex, natural flavour, reach for the sea salt.
