How does Equal Exchange Any-Time Medium Roast & Ground Coffee empower female coffee growers? 

Any-Time Medium Roast & Ground Coffee is part of Equal Exchange’s ‘Grown by Women’ project. This project is intended to shine a light on the integral role of women in the coffee-growing industry, to recognise their contribution and to support their empowerment. 

In many cases, women do up to 70% of the work on family farms. However, it is usually the men who are co-operative members, receive the training and receive payment for the green coffee beans.

Equal Exchange works at a grassroots level in order to promote gender equality, support co-operatives to ensure they have fair gender representation and enable women to become members. This means women share control over the finances, the decision making and are recognised in the community for their work. 

70% of the coffee Any-Time Medium Roast & Ground Coffee is grown by the women farmers of UNICAFEC in northern Peru, with 30% sourced from CEPCO in Mexico.
