The original vegan cheese alternative created by Bute Island Foods in 1988, this Strong Cheddar Style Sheese Wedge is full of mature flavour and it even melts! With an ever-improving texture, this Sheese can be sliced, shredded, or grated but remains creamy and cheesy.

Bute Island Foods Strong Cheddar Style Sheese Wedge is very versatile and here for all your vegan cheesy needs. We love it sliced in a sandwich with Marshall & Brown’s Red Onion Marmalade Chutney, grated and melted on top of Mister Free'D’s Tortilla Chips with salsa and jalapenos, and of course in vegan Mac’n’Cheese.

Yes, you can use Bute Island Foods Strong Cheddar Style Sheese Wedge to make vegan cheese fondue, and it’s absolutely delicious. You don’t even need a fondue kit, you can make it on the hob in a heavy-based saucepan.

To make this fondue you will need 125ml white wine (or 25ml white wine vinegar and 100ml cloudy apple juice); 2 Bute Island Foods Strong Cheddar Style Sheese Wedges; 2 pots Oatly’s Oatly Creamy Oats Fraiche; 2 tbsp Marigold’s Blue B12 Engevita Nutritional Yeast Flakes; 50ml kirsch (or cherry juice); 1 heaped tsp cornflour; and a baguette torn into chunks to serve.

Firstly, heat the wine (or vinegar and apple juice) in a saucepan. Grate the Bute Island Foods Strong Cheddar Style Sheese Wedge. Alternately add a handful of Sheese and a spoonful of Oats Fraiche to the saucepan and continually stir or whisk.

When all the Sheese has melted add the kirsch (or cherry juice), followed by the nutritional yeast and cornflour, and continue to whisk until completely smooth. You can add a dash of mustard to bring out the flavour, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Place a large wooden board in the middle of the table and place the pan on the board. Then get dipping your bread into the fondue, and remember if anyone drops theirs you can give them a forfeit!
