Product Overview

When it comes to cheese-making, we vegans don’t have much luck. Give up all the fuss and try out Just Wholefoods’ VegeRen 100% Animal-Free Rennet!

Made from 100% mucor miehei, VegeRen is the perfect gluten-free Animal Rennet alternative. Just add a few drops to your favourite moo-free milk and watch your cheese transform!

Mucor miehei is a unique species of fungus. It’s commercially used to curdle milk and produce cheese, plus it’s 100% natural and plant-based! It works by reacting to the milk it’s added to, which can be used to create solid cheese. There’s no need to blend and drain special mixes of nuts when using VegeRen!

Transform your moo-free milk to create all your vegan-cheese dreams! For best results, add 10 drops of VegeRen to 1 pint of warm milk (32°C) and process following your recipe. You can also make Junket, just add some sweetener and vanilla essence to the mixture and leave to set!

Ingredients

Mucor miehei (food approved milk clotting enzyme).

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Mucor Miehei Curdle Non-Dairy Milk?

Mucor Miehei curdles non-dairy milk through binding onto their proteins. The milk needs to be heated to 32°C and kept at that temperature throughout the process to ensure the effectiveness of the binding. Once lumps have formed, you can take it off the heat and leave it wrapped in cheesecloth to drain excess liquid.
